Integrating Technology Into Golf Lessons

Combining the Fundamentals with Technology

Stan Fenn, Director of Instruction and self-proclaimed fundamentalist, has been teaching golf for over 40 years and likes to stick with the basics. However, with new technology becoming readily available over the last several years, Stan has started incorporating more data into his lessons. Stan is a huge supporter of Onform, and more recently began using the Full Swing KIT. Stan has found that combining the video from Onform with the data from Full Swing helps students understand their performance better.

“With Full Swing KIT and Onform, we now have access to so much more information—ball speed, carry distance, spin rate. Putting those numbers together with video just makes sense,” – Stan Fenn

One of the biggest advantages for Stan is the improved communication with his students. He can share videos with voiceovers, draw lines to demonstrate swing angles, and get videos back from students asking for feedback. Thanks to the combination of Full Swing and Onform, Stan was able to increase his lesson prices earlier this year. He’s able to deliver more value because of the technology, and the lessons are more productive as a result.

“Good communication keeps students coming back…And when students see results, they tell other people.” – Stan Fenn

Visual Feedback for Better Swings

Brandon Martinez, another teaching professional at the Golf Academy of Northern Colorado, focuses on body mechanics and getting his students to move more efficiently. He believes that when students can visually see their swing, they can feel the difference and see improvements faster.

Brandon was already using the Full Swing KIT but found that when paired with Onform, it was a perfect match. With the data from Full Swing and the visual feedback from Onform, Brandon helps students improve their swings.

“It gives us everything we could ask for in terms of technology. We’re not guessing anymore. The data gives us proof of what’s happening.” – Brandon Martinez

According to Brandon, not using technology is no longer an option anymore if you want to get better. With Onform, he can show his students exactly where they’re losing efficiency in their swing and how to make adjustments that lead to better results. When he uses their own videos to show them how to swing more efficiently with less effort, and pairs it with Full Swing KIT data that reveals the added distance from each swing, the results speak for themselves.

Integrating Technology Into Golf Lessons

For both Stan and Brandon, the Full Swing KIT and Onform have become valuable tools in their coaching toolkit. The simplicity of using these tools—opening the app, recording swings, capturing data, and sharing feedback —has made their lessons more effective and efficient. In addition, they have also been able to increase their lesson rates and improve student retention in the process. All great outcomes for growing their teaching business.

Incorporating technology like Full Swing KIT and Onform hasn’t changed the way they teach. Stan is still a fundamentalist, and Brandon still focuses on body mechanics. But it has allowed them to provide more value to their students through clear, data-driven feedback so their students improve faster and feel more connected to them as instructors.
