For Chaise Swisher, founder of The Ultimate Swing, baseball has always been about more than just playing the game—it’s about constant learning and improvement. From playing tee-ball at age 4 to coaching baseball at the collegiate level, Chaise’s journey is all about learning, growing, and helping others improve. Today, he combines years of hands-on coaching experience with technology to offer private hitting lessons through his business, The Ultimate Swing, that make a real difference.
Chaise’s Journey to Coaching
“My journey to coaching baseball started with a love for the game,“”” Chaise shares. After playing through college, Chaise began teaching at public schools while coaching middle and high school teams. His coaching career advanced to Surry Community College, where he became the hitting coach.
During this time, Chaise was also building The Ultimate Swing, his private hitting instruction business. After a few years coaching at the JUCO level, he stepped away to spend more time with his family and focus on The Ultimate Swing full-time.
“I’ve spent thousands of hours in the cage and done thousands of lessons,” he explains. “I’m constantly learning something new. My philosophy is to never stop learning and growing.”
Why Video Is Important to The Ultimate Swing Business
In 2013, Chaise started using video to help his players see their swings. “It was a way to help clients visually see what they were doing in their swing and to compare it to what some of the best in the world were doing,” he says. Using video lets Chaise highlight what’s working and what needs improvement.
“They say ‘a picture is worth a thousand words,’ and sometimes showing a kid visually what they need to do saves a lot of time and effort when building a swing,” Chaise explains. “Video is great for feedback and helps kids know what to work on at home.”
How Onform Makes Coaching Easier
Since finding Onform, Chaise has made it a core part of his coaching routine. “As a hitting instructor, I use Onform every lesson,” he says. “Every client gets videos from each session. They can access drills we worked on and watch the feedback I recorded.”
Here’s how Chaise uses Onform in his lessons:
- During Lessons: When a player arrives, Chaise opens their Onform library and records videos of drills and swing breakdowns during the lesson. These videos are automatically saved and shared with players or their parents, so they can review them later.
- Providing Feedback: Onform’s tools, like drawing and voiceovers, let Chaise show players what they’re doing well and where they can improve. The voice-overs especially provide in-depth explanations that the players can revisit anytime.
- Staying Connected: The chat and bulk messaging features make it easy for Chaise to answer questions, stay connected with players and families, and share extra tips between lessons.
- Social Media Content: Chaise uses lesson videos and concepts from Onform to create posts for social media.
Trying Remote Coaching
While Chaise mainly works with players in person, he has also tried using Onform for remote coaching. He said it was more work to set up on the front end, but once he can see how it would be easy to use now that he put in the initial legwork. He’s already coached a few players remotely and sees opportunities to expand this in the future if he decides to market that as an additional service The Ultimate Swing offers.
Looking Ahead
Chaise believes that tools like Onform are game-changers for coaching. “Onform allows me to break down components of the swing and focus on fundamentals in a way players can see and understand,” he says.
At The Ultimate Swing, Chaise is helping baseball players get better every day. By combining his years of coaching experience with Onform’s video tools, he’s making a lasting impact on the game he loves.
